Will all of your students have internet access at home to do their blog post homework?
I don't know many second graders who can read/listen for a straight hour. I'd predict by day 3 you'll have a handful of behavior issues. You should be summarizing and doing comprehension activities during the book, not when it's finished.
I like the idea of acting out their favorite scenes of the book.
